From kosher wine to their ties to the liquor trade in Europe, Jews have a longstanding historical relationship with alcohol. But once prohibition hit America, American Jews were forced to choose between abandoning their historical connection to alcohol and remaining outside the American mainstream. In Jews and Booze, Marni Davis examines American Jews’ long and complicated relationship to alcohol during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, the years of the national prohibition movement’s rise and fall. Bringing to bear an extensive range of archival materials, Davis offers a novel perspective on a previously unstudied area of American Jewish economic activity—the making and selling of liquor, wine, and beer—and reveals that alcohol commerce played a crucial role in Jewish immigrant acculturation and the growth of Jewish communities in the United States. But prohibition’s triumph cast a pall on American Jews’ history in the alcohol trade, forcing them to revise, clarify, and defend their communal and civic identities, both to their fellow Americans and to themselves.

The social probability theories, and historical & natural observations contained in this book were developed over many years and others are based on observations and current events in history. I have also included two new products I discovered while living in my native country of Saint Lucia. Additionally, I review the world, its beauty, and its history. Humanity has reached a milestone. While in Saint Lucia, I noted several alien sightings and have shared my observations of these sightings through this book. I reviewed many natural and historical observations, have looked at the world, and saw the wonder it contains. The reader will see references to "Mind Probe technology". This technology is used by governments with the technology to conduct systematic checks on people of interest. I became aware of the technology while living in Saint Lucia because of the alien sightings, I witnessed and the conclusions I drew from those sightings. It is imperative that, as a society, we do not perceive these alien visitors as a threat. It is my summation that they can be the harbingers of great technology and enhanced medical care that will benefit humanity. I hope that with the writing of this book, the scientific community and committee that discusses these phenomena will welcome me as a member because I believe I can contribute greatly to their investigation of the alien presence that I surmise have been visiting earth for thousands if not millions of years.

The alien Veroshi swooped into Earth with a compulsion to worship the Grebsas as gods that had been engineered by a Prophet they never knew. It was enough to bring a charging Grebsa to a sudden stop. The Veroshi are just beginning to settle into the city built for them by the reluctant gods when an elderly member of the Guardian Faction collapses while protecting abandoned Veroshi puppies in a blizzard. The Mind-Priestesses insist that these puppies are the children of a Grebsa. That leads to snorts of "Impossible!" from the Grebsas, but as events unfold, they begin to wonder exactly how unlikely it is.

India has a high maternal mortality rate, a staggering 174 per 100,000 live births (2015). 'Women are not dying because of diseases we cannot treat. They are dying because societies have yet to make the decision that their lives are worth saving.'-Mahmoud Fathalla, past president of the International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics. Pregnancy is not only an altered physiology, but also has profound psychological and social implications. Sometimes, these changing body dynamics are far reaching. Chronicles of a Gynaecologist, written by a celebrated doctor and inspired by the stories of real women, explores issues ranging from the largely preventable complications experienced during pregnancies, the myths and superstitions surrounding them, to emotionally wrenching situations like postpartum depression. These compelling stories also touch upon topics that society tries to hide under the carpet, such as domestic violence, perversions, sexual orientation, rape and incest. The author tries to decipher the conundrum of women's lives at every step. Every story raises a curtain and promises to be a revelation.

This story is derived from as human a document as ever existed; and, because of its uncommon nature, perhaps no one thing contributes so much to its value as its authenticity. It is an autobiography, and more: in part it is a biography; for, in telling the story of my life, I must relate the history of another self-a self which was dominant from my twenty-fourth to my twenty-sixth year. During that period I was unlike what I had been, or what I have been since. The biographical part of my autobiography might be called the history of a mental civil war, which I fought single-handed on a battlefield that lay within the compass of my skull. An Army of Unreason, composed of the cunning and treacherous thoughts of an unfair foe, attacked my bewildered consciousness with cruel persistency, and would have destroyed me, had not a triumphant Reason finally interposed a superior strategy that saved me from my unnatural self.
